Exam Pattern for Prelims Exam

  • The question paper is available in Hindi or English language
  • There are two papers in the exam
  • The time duration will be four hours
  • There are 100 questions in paper 1 while 80 questions in paper 2
  • 400 will be the total marks for the exam 

 

Exam Pattern for Mains Exam:

  • There are total of nine papers for the Mains exam
  • The question paper will be available in Hindi as well as English language
  • The time duration of the Mains exam will be three hours
  • There are 300 questions in Part A and Part B
  • There are 250 questions in General Studies and Optional Papers
  • The maximum marks for the exam will be 1750

Applicants can start their preparation for IAS exam from NCERT books and daily newspaper. Complete NCERT subjects Sociology, Economics, Geography, and History first and then start reading other books.
