Eligibility

Applicants for the IAS exam must have to fulfill the eligibility criteria as per the official notification. Applicants need to fulfill the below eligibility criteria: 

Nationality Criteria:

  • Applicants must have the subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • Applicants of Indian origin who have migrated from either Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan/ East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

 

Educational Qualification:

  • Applicants must need to hold at least a graduation degree from any stream from the recognized university established under the act passed by the POI (Parliament of India). Applicants who are in the last year of Bachelor’s or graduation and awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the IAS exam. 

 

Age Qualification:

  • The minimum age limit criteria will be 21 years
  • The maximum age limit criteria will be 32 years
  • For OBC category the age relaxation will be 3 years
  • For ST or SC category the age relaxation will be 5 years
  • For Disabled or Defence Services the age relaxation will be 3 years
  • For Ex-Serviceman including the commissioned officers the age relaxation 5 years

Ques: How a candidate can start preparation of IAS exam at home?
Ans:
Applicants can start their preparation for IAS exam from NCERT books and daily newspaper. Complete NCERT subjects Sociology, Economics, Geography, and History first and then start reading other books.

 

Ques: How many papers on the IAS Mains exam?
Ans:
There are total 9 papers in the IAS Mains exam. Apart from these nine papers, applicants also need to qualify in the General Hindi and General English papers.

 

Ques: What is the qualification required for the IAS exam?

Applicants need a Graduation degree from a recognized university of India.

 

Ques: What is the difference between PCS and IAS?
Ans:
The full form of IAS is Indian Administrative Services and the full form of PCS is Provincial Civil Services. The recruitment of IAS exam will be done by the Union Public Service Commission while the PCS recruitment will be done through State Public Service Commission.
