Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for open quota applicants differs from that of departmental quota candidates.
For Open quota Candidates: This section is broken into two sections: Part A and Part B.

Part A - has 80 questions, each of which is worth 1/2 points. Part A has a total of 40 points.
Part B - has 60 questions, each of which is worth 1/2 points. Part B has a total of 30 points.
The duration for the paper is 2 hours 30 minutes. The minimum qualifying score is 25.
For Departmental Quota (20%): This section is broken into two sections: Part A and Part B.

Part A has 30 questions, each of which is worth 1/2 points. Part A has a total of 15 points.
Part B has 140 questions, each of which is worth 1/2 points. Part B has a total of 70 points.
The duration for the paper is 3 hours. The minimum qualifying score is 30.

Physical Measurement Test: This test is solely relevant to open quota applicants; departmental quota candidates are excluded from it. At this step, the applicants' height and chest circumference are measured. This is only a qualifying test.

Chest Measurement (for male candidates only): 

Normal  81 cms
Expanded Condition   81 to 86 cms

Endurance Test (ET): All applicants who pass the PET will be invited to the Endurance Test. This test is also a qualifying one. Here are the specifics:

Men 1500 metres run in 7 minutes
Women/ Transgender 400 metres run in 2 minutes 30 seconds
Ex-servicemen / Ex-personnel of Central
Para-Military Forces/ serving persons
who are going to retire within one year
1500 metres run in 8 minutes

Document Validation: TNUSRB will summon open quota applicants who have passed the Physical Measurement Test, Endurance Test, Physical Efficiency Test, and Departmental candidates who have passed the Endurance Test for certificate verification.

Interview/ Viva-Voice Test:This step of the recruitment process has been assigned 10 points.
Candidates from the open quota who have passed the Physical Measurement Test, Endurance Test, Physical Efficiency Test, and certificate verification will be invited to the TNUSRB SI Interview/Viva-vose. The number of candidates called for this stage will be double that of the vacancies.
Departmental applicants who pass the Endurance Test will be invited to the Viva-voce.

Special Marks for NSS/ NCC/SPORTS/GAMES: According to the TNUSRB information booklet, applicants with NCC/NSS/SPORTS/GAMES certifications will be awarded an extra 5 marks during the viva-voce.

Provisional List: After all of the preceding phases have been completed, a preliminary selection list will be revealed. The Provisional Select List will be generated by aggregating the marks earned in the Physical Efficiency Test, Written Examination, Viva-Voce, and Special marks for the position of Sub-Inspector of Police, subject to communal reserve and total vacancies. All applicants on the provisional list must pass a medical examination as well as character and antecedents verification via the Police Department.
