Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar is a state government university offering numerous programmes of various levels. The university was established in the year 1969 by the state government and is situated in Amritsar, Punjab. The university is named after the Sikh Guru Shri Guru Nanak dev Ji was also the founder of the pillars of Sikh religion. The university is approved by University Grant Commission and is established under an Act passed by the State Legislature of Punjab. Admission to the courses is purely on the merit-based on the scores of state and national entrance examinations.
